Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –A new wastewater treatment facility is planned for Albuquerque’s west side. The new facility would conserve drinking water and return treated water to the Rio Grande. Called The Bosque Water Reclamation Facility it will be built south of Montano Road and east of Mirandela Street near the Pueblo Montano Trailhead. Construction could begin in late 2027 pending regulatory approval and funding. The facility is projected to reclaim up to 5 million gallons of water per day, the treated water would then flow into the Rio Grande. A future phase of the project would deliver reclaimed water to west side parks, golf courses and other large water users. Water authority officials say the project is expected to cost $300 million and they plan to seek state and federal funding to complete it. A public meeting is scheduled for tonight beginning at 5:30 at the Raymond Sanchez Community Center on north 4th Street.
