The New Mexico Cattle Growers’ Association told lawmakers this week that drought, animal disease, and rising costs remain major concerns. The group is seeking support for livestock health programs, veterinary services, and emergency planning related to the New World screwworm. Association leaders also raised concerns about possible future legislation involving firearms, stream access, and environmental regulations, saying the cumulative impact of new laws can significantly affect rural producers.
