Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – Three people are without a place to stay after a fire at an apartment complex in northwest Albuquerque. Albuquerque Fire Rescue says crews were called to Eagle Ranch Road around 5:30 Sunday evening after reports of smoke coming from a third-floor unit. When firefighters arrived, they found light smoke, while the building’s sprinkler system and fire alarm had already activated—prompting residents to evacuate. Crews were able to bring the fire under control in less than 20 minutes. Damage was mostly contained to the apartment where the fire started, but two units below were impacted by water from the sprinkler system. No injuries were reported. The displaced residents are being helped by apartment management, along with friends and family. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
