Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – The Albuquerque Police Department’s Fatal Crash Unit detectives are investigating a fatal crash involving two motorcycles Thursday night in west Albuquerque.
The driver of one of the motorcycles died at the scene of the crash, which occurred shortly before 8 p.m. at Coors Blvd. and Westside Dr., N.W. The other driver was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
According to police, a Toyota RAV4 was traveling south on Coors and entered into the left turn lane at Westside Dr. as the driver attempted to make a left-hand turn, it was struck by two motorcycles, a 2024 Suzuki and a 2000 Yamaha. The driver of the Suzuki was ejected and killled while the driver of the Yamaha was ejected and transported to the hospital in critical condition.
APD says there were no signs of impairment from any of the drivers, but witnesses told police the motorcycles were traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash.
