ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque Police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run near the University of New Mexico Hospital.
Investigators say 42-year-old Brian Boyce was driving a maroon Honda Accord when he struck 28-year-old Alec Montoya, who was crossing Lomas Boulevard at Stanford Drive around 6:45 p.m. Thursday. The vehicle stopped briefly, but the driver fled the scene on foot.
Montoya died from his injuries at the scene.
APD’s Fatal Crash Unit identified Boyce as the driver and later arrested him at his residence. He was booked into the Metro Detention Center on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in great bodily harm. Police say additional charges are expected.
The investigation is ongoing.
