ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The FBI Albuquerque Division is now accepting nominations and applications for its 2027 Citizens Academy, a program designed to give New Mexicans an inside look at how the bureau investigates crimes and carries out its mission across the state.
According to the FBI, the academy offers participants a behind-the-scenes look at federal law enforcement through presentations, demonstrations, and case studies led by special agents, intelligence analysts, and professional staff.
The 10-session program will run on Wednesday evenings from Feb. 10 through April 14, 2027, at the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, located at 4200 Luecking Park Ave. NE in Albuquerque.
Participants will learn about a variety of topics, including:
- Violent crime investigations
- Human trafficking

“The FBI’s Citizens Academy provides an incredible opportunity for members of the community to better understand the day-to-day work of the FBI and partner with us in keeping New Mexico safe,” said Justin A. Garris, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Division.
The program is open to New Mexico residents who live or work in the state and meet eligibility requirements. Applicants must be at least 21 years old, pass a limited background check, and attend sessions in person.
