SANTA FE, N.M. — The New Mexico Health Care Authority is launching a series of statewide information sessions aimed at helping residents understand upcoming federal changes to Medicaid and recent changes affecting SNAP benefits.
The initiative, called Keep Your Benefits NM, will provide free, in-person events for residents, healthcare providers, and community organizations seeking information about how federal policy changes could affect health coverage and food assistance.
The first sessions are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Gateway Center in Albuquerque, located at 5400 Gibson Blvd. SE. Two sessions will be offered that day, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
According to state officials, the sessions are designed to help New Mexicans understand new requirements, learn what steps may be necessary to maintain benefits, and avoid potential interruptions in coverage or assistance.
“We want eligible New Mexicans to keep their Medicaid coverage. It’s critical that everyone understands the coming changes,” said acting Medicaid Director Alanna Dancis in a statement.
The Health Care Authority said the events will cover both upcoming Medicaid changes and SNAP updates that have already taken effect this year.
Representatives from the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions will also attend the events to provide information about employment opportunities and job-training programs.
Live Spanish interpretation will be available at both Albuquerque sessions.
State officials are encouraging Medicaid and SNAP recipients to keep their contact information up to date and pay close attention to any notices they receive regarding their benefits.
