ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The New Mexico State Fair will recognize military members and veterans during its annual Military & Veterans Day celebration on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
The event, presented by the New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services and the New Mexico National Guard, will offer free admission to active-duty military personnel, veterans, military retirees, and members of the National Guard and Reserve.
To receive free admission, attendees must present a valid Uniformed Services ID Card, VA health care identification card, or a veteran-designated driver’s license. Fair officials note that the offer applies only to eligible service members and veterans and does not extend to spouses or family members. Parking fees will still apply.
Throughout the day, fairgoers can visit exhibits and information booths hosted by the New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services, the New Mexico National Guard, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, veterans service organizations, and community groups.
A special Military & Veterans Day program is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on the Pavilion Stage. The ceremony will feature guest speakers and representatives from the New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services, the New Mexico National Guard, Kirtland Air Force Base, and Gold Star Mothers.
The New Mexico State Fair continues through Sept. 20 at Expo New Mexico in Albuquerque.
