Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – One man is in jail and two others are in the hospital in serious condition after a head-on DWI related crash that happened Thursday night on southbound Coors Blvd and Roberson Ln NW.
Witnesses told police that the driver of a GMC pick-up was driving erratically in the center lane, yelling, and displaying rude hand gestures to other drivers.
At Roberson Ln NW there is a left turn lane to turn east toward Sagebrush Church from southbound Coors. Investigators say the GMC crossed lanes at the turn and went into northbound Coors going south in the center lane and crashed head-on with a Volkswagen.
That driver was taken to the hospital with severe injuries. The passenger of the GMC pick-up was transported to the hospital in critical condition due to severe blood loss. The driver of the GMC, identified as Carlos Gonzales-Daniel, 56, took off after the crash on foot and caught then arrested by officers. He’s charged with DWI resulting in Great Bodily Harm and Leaving the Scene of an Accident resulting in Great Bodily Harm.
