SANTA FE, N.M. — More than 200,000 New Mexico Medicaid recipients will soon receive information about new federal requirements scheduled to take effect in 2027.
The New Mexico Health Care Authority (HCA) and the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions will host a virtual news conference on Aug. 31 to explain the upcoming changes and how they could affect Medicaid recipients across the state.
According to HCA, notices will begin going out the week of Aug. 31 to Medicaid members who may be impacted by new work or activity requirements that are scheduled to take effect Jan. 1, 2027.
State officials say the briefing will cover:
- Medicaid eligibility requirements
- New work or activity rules
- Available exemptions
- Steps members may need to take to maintain coverage
- Employment and training resources available through state programs
Officials will also provide an update on federal SNAP changes that took effect earlier this year.
As part of the rollout, HCA is launching a statewide outreach campaign called “Keep Your Benefits, NM”, which is designed to help eligible Medicaid and SNAP recipients understand the new requirements and maintain their benefits.
The virtual news conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 31, and will be streamed on the Health Care Authority’s social media platforms.
