Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – Since April of this year, there have been more than 900 heat-related emergency room visits around the state, which is the highest number they’ve ever recorded according to the NM Department of Health. Unfortunately, the agency also reports that six people have died due to heat illness in New Mexico.
Symptoms of heat-related illness include headache, nausea, and dizziness.
Several cities around the state offer their own cool down services at city run buildings like libraries and community centers and that includes Santa Fe and Albuquerque.
The Tadpole Springs, the splash pad outside the Aquarium, will remain open through October 11 after a successful first season that drew thousands of visitors. Beginning September 8, the attraction will move to a weekend-only schedule, allowing families to continue enjoying the water feature during the fall.
