Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – Albuquerque is getting a little brighter after the city says it has installed or replaced more than 500 streetlights around town. According to a study, the city says increased street lighting can reduce nighttime crime by about 15%. Having better lighting around the city, helps drivers to see pedestrians, cyclists and other people on the road after dark.
Among the highlights the city is touting is a project of 187 solar powered streetlights on east Central Ave, as part of six major lighting projects that have been completed. The city has several other projects in the works including phase two of the Southwest Mesa Street Lighting Project.
