Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –A suspect in the shooting death of a man outside the Frontier Restaurant on May 13th has been charged in connection with a fatal stabbing of a homeless man outside a church. Last week Jaylen Hopewell, a former UNM student, was charged with an open count of murder and tampering with evidence in the March 20th stabbing of 47 year old Genovevo Rodriguez. Hopewell was identified by detectives as a suspect in the stabbing after he was one of four charged in the May 13th homicide of Eden Rock out the Frontier Restaurant. APD police spokesperson Gilbert Gallegos said in a news release that a detective said he thought he recognized Hopewell from surveillance video related to the murder at the church. Searches on Hopewell’s phone found it pinged in the area where Rodriguez was killed. Hopewell now faces an open count of murder, robbery and tampering with evidence in that death.
