ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Albuquerque City Council has approved a $1.5 billion budget to fund city operations for Fiscal Year 2027 following a series of changes and debate.
The amended budget passed Monday night on a 7-2 vote after councilors worked through multiple revisions during a lengthy meeting. Discussions focused on balancing proposed spending adjustments while keeping essential departments and programs fully funded.
The approval comes days after council members identified an $11.8 million discrepancy in Mayor Tim Keller’s initial budget proposal. Councilors said that gap was addressed through amendments before the final vote.
The adopted budget outlines funding priorities across several areas, including public safety, infrastructure, community development, environmental protection, and human and family services.
City leaders say the plan is intended to maintain current services while supporting long-term goals for Albuquerque.
