RIO RANCHO, NEW MEXICO – Last year, the Rio Rancho 13U Spartans dominated the field but never made it to Nationals—financial hurdles kept their dream out of reach. This year, they’re back, stronger than ever, and determined to finish what they started.
For the second straight year, the Spartans have claimed the Pop Warner Southwest Regional Championship. This time, they’re officially headed to Charlotte, North Carolina, to compete on youth football’s biggest stage and represent Rio Rancho and the entire Southwest region.
Coaches Nate Davis, Josiah Hunter, Byron Cooper, and Greg Dent Jr. credit the team’s success to hard work, resilience, and teamwork. Families and supporters say this trip is about more than football—it’s about giving these athletes the chance they missed last year.
The Spartans are now raising funds to cover travel expenses as they prepare for Nationals in December.
