ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Housing New Mexico’s Board of Directors has approved more than $23 million in combined funding to support affordable housing projects across the state.
The board awarded over $7 million in Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, which are expected to generate more than $56 million in private investment. In addition, more than $16 million in loans were approved for multiple developments.
According to officials, the funding will help create 194 new housing units and rehabilitate 39 existing homes in communities statewide.
Projects are planned in Albuquerque, Deming, Taos, Bernalillo, and at the Pueblo of Laguna. The developments will serve a range of residents, including families, seniors, farmworkers, and veterans.
Among the approved projects is a 51-unit senior housing development in Albuquerque, a 53-unit development for farmworker families in Deming, and a 55-unit family housing project in Bernalillo. Another project will focus on upgrading and rehabilitating homes at the Pueblo of Laguna.
Housing New Mexico officials say the funding is part of a broader effort to increase access to affordable housing and support development across urban and rural areas.
The approved projects join dozens of others already underway statewide.
