Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — The Bernalillo County DA’s Office wants Michael Magirl exhumed from his plot at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. The department wants to see if his DNA is a match to a July 8th, 2002 sexual assault case in northeast Albuquerque. This comes after the office received a CODIS match last month from that case. The case involved a man who broke into a northeast Albuquerque home and raped a woman. According to the DA’s Office, the CODIS match came back last month, identifying Magirl as a suspect. Magirl died on July 20th, 2002, after he broke into a northeast Albuquerque home and tried raping a woman at gunpoint – before she used his gun to shoot him.
