Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –A woman in Las Cruces has been arrested for child abuse charges at a daycare. Jennifer Hernandez, a former pre-K teacher at a local childcare and development center, was arrested after being suspected of abusing a young boy who was in her care. Officers conducted an investigation in late February after the parents of the child contacted the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation was taken over by Las Cruces PD. Video was obtained from the Discovery Development Center and observed several incidents of physical abuse on a 10 year old boy at the hands of Hernandez. The incident are said to have occurred during the early morning of December 9th, 2025. Police say the abuse did not cause great bodily harm. Hernandez was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
