Gigi our Aussie was adopted this week but our fair Lady, the fun-sized playful girl is doing her best to give her “adopt me” face as everyone passes by her kennel.
This week we are featuring a sweet shy guy with a bit of a sad story to tell and a darling little spunky girl.
Hunter (ID# A 1675662) is just about 1 year old, male brown merle Australian Cattle Dog mix. He weighs 42 pounds, a perfect size. We have two pictures of Hunter to share with you, one puppy picture when he originally came to our shelter and a present picture that shows this beautiful boy’s smile. Once upon a time there was a tiny puppy named Hunter. He and his mom and seven brothers and sisters were brought to the shelter. Once of our wonderful volunteers fostered the whole family for many weeks until they were all adopted out. When Hunter was becoming strong enough for a home he lived with other dogs and children and was a very good boy. Hunter’s people said they could not keep him, puppy hood can be a challenge and many do not consider the time and energy needed. As you can see Hunter is a very pretty boy and so was adopted into a home with other dogs. His best bud was a 13 year old Chihuahua. Well sadly, you might be surprised but this family left Hunter at the shelter when they went on vacation prior to a move! Hunter’s foster mom realized he was back at the shelter and contacted me with lots of information about Hunter. As you can imagine she was heartbroken so rushed down to visit with Hunter. Hunter easily bonds with people and yes, he remembered the loving person who cared for him early in his life. Hunter is a bit anxious in his kennel and as we have mentioned many times please, ask to meet the potential adoptee away from the kennel. Would you show your true nature confined in a cell? Hunter loves to take a walk and is pretty good on leash. He stays very close. He is a young guy and has some energy but his happiest when near a person receiving some attention or just sharing time. Hunter loves to be petted and gives sweet little kisses. He has participated in our doggie play groups and very much enjoys the company of other dogs and had a great time with our softer play dogs. While on walks Hunter is happy to meet any dogs along the way. Hunter and his bud Mosley enjoyed our kiddy pool on a warm day. He is an intelligent boy already knowing the cue for sit. He would love to shine in class with you when you attend the free training classes that accompany his adoption. Being a herding breed he might enjoy agility training too. Hunter is well loved by our staff and volunteers and we are hoping he will find his true forever home with a family that will appreciate the love and devotion Hunter will give. All he asks is the same in return. Constant loving companion….that’s this boy! Enjoy Hunter’s baby pictures and current picture then come meet him at our Eastside shelter.
Hilda (ID# A 1638081) is a 2 year old, female brindle Smooth Coated Chihuahua mix. She weighs only 13 pounds. Hilda is a friendly spunky girl. She is presently kenneled with two other dogs and so far has been on her best behavior. She’s eager to come out for a walk and is a dream to walk on leash. She loves her toys. When in the play yard it was so much fun watching her grab each toy and parade around proudly carrying it until she returned for some petting or a lap-time cuddle. She has just the right amount of playful energy yet not a wild child. Check out Hilda’s confident yet curious expression in her picture…and those ears….way too cute. How this girl became lost and no one rushed to the shelter to find their beloved lost dog is puzzling. She has an easy to manage coat with lovely gold on brown brindle markings. Looking for a gal to brighten your days…one that will play with every last one of her toys….accompany you on your daily walks then curl up to rest in your lap? Hilda is ready to meet you and if you have another canine friend she’d love to meet him/her too. We are always happy to assist you with a meet and greet between present companion and prospective adoptee. Just make sure you bring a friend along to wait in the shade with your dog until we can bring the new hopeful adoptee out for a meeting. You will find Hilda at our Eastside shelter.
