ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) Parents of a girl born from a pregnant New Mexico woman who survived a lightning strike says she has neurological damage a year later but is doing well. KOAT-TV reports that 1-year-old Kimberly Gordon can't sit up or crawl, and she has trouble digesting food. But parents Ian Gordon and Kendra Villanueva say they are happy their daughter is alive.
Authorities say Villanueva and Gordon were watching fireworks last year on July Fourth when lightning struck both of them in the front yard of an Albuquerque home. Villanueva was just weeks from her due date and was rushed to University of New Mexico Medical Center where she had an emergency Cesarean section.
Kimberly's parents say today her hair stands straight up, another possible side effect of the lightning.
