CLOVIS, N.M. (AP) Curry County commissioners are considering a ban on electronic cigarettes. The proposal is set to go before the commission early next month. The Clovis News Journal reports that the proposal unveiled this week has drawn mixed reactions. County manager Lance Pyle says it mirrors other bans adopted by cities and counties in the state. Violations would come with a $500 fine.
E-cigarettes deliver nicotine through water vapor, rather than through tobacco smoke. Users can buy different flavorings for the cigarettes and can vary the amount of nicotine delivered in each puff.
Curry County and the city of Clovis already ban the use of smoking tobacco products in buildings and other enclosed areas.
