ROSWELL, N.M. (AP) Police say a Roswell cemetery has been desecrated and is facing thousands of dollars in damage. The Roswell Daily Record reports that police say more than 20 headstones were kicked down at the South Park Cemetery last week.
Cemetery Sexton Mike Kirk says none of the grave markers was broken but replacing the headstones in an upright position will be costly. Kirk says he believes the desecration was some sort of gang initiation.
No arrests have been made.
