U.S.S. Albuquerque

I want to share a little info about my recent adventure aboard the U.S.S. Albuquerque. She is a fast-attack, nuclear powered submarine (SSN 706) and has been in service 30+ years. We were aboard for one of the last "Distinguished Visitors" cruises before she is de-activated. While aboard, we experienced dives to approx. 600 feet, sharp angle maneuvers, periscope viewing, cruising on the bridge while on the surface of the ocean, and a burial at sea including a 3 torpedo salute. Approx. 135 crew with Commander Troy Hesselink at the helm.  It was an incredible experience which increased my respect for our Navy, helped me understand my dad's Naval submarine service in the late 40's and made me even more proud to be an American citizen. Thanks to Dick Brown and Rick Carver from the Navy League, New Mexico Council for inviting me along. 2p August 10, Dan Goss and I will star in "Love Letters" at The Adobe Theatre.  You can get tickets for the benefit at www.adobetheater.org  Remember, local news headlines begin at 7a Saturday and Sunday & then it's time for your calls.
