PUPPY-HOLDING MAN: OFFICER USED STUN GUN ON ME

ESPANOLA, N.M. (AP) A New Mexico man is suing an Espanola officer after he says the officer used a stun gun on him while the man was holding a puppy. KOAT-TV reports that Eppie Cruz Montoya recently filed a lawsuit in state district court and says the officer used excessive force during a confrontation at a convenience store.

Montoya says he walked into the store with the puppy to buy a drink for his pregnant girlfriend when the store manager told him his dog wasn't allowed and ordered him to take down his sweatshirt's hood.

According to a police report, an officer arrived at the store and used a stun gun when Montoya disobeyed the officer's commands. Montoya says he dropped the puppy.

The Espanola city officials are investigating to see if the officer used excessive force.
