LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) A woman is in custody for allegedly biting a nurse at a Las Cruces-area hospital last weekend. Las Cruces police say 30-year-old Jamie L. Rogers is being held on suspicion of battery of a health care worker. Officers were dispatched to Memorial Medical Center about 3 a.m. Sunday and a 37-year-old registered nurse told officers that Rogers bit her. Rogers had been transported to the hospital earlier that night after police found her lying in the middle of a city roadway. Police say Rogers displayed signs of being extremely intoxicated.
Witnesses told police that while Rogers was being treated at the hospital, she was seen biting the pinky finger of one of the nurses and refused to let go for about 20 seconds.
The bite caused minor bleeding and swelling.
