RIO RANCHO, N.M. (AP) The city of Rio Rancho has named a finalist in its search for a new police chief. KOAT-TV reports the city manager has picked Albuquerque police commander Michael Geier as his top choice to lead the Rio Rancho Police Department.
The Rio Rancho City Council still must approve the hire before it becomes official. Councilors are expected to decide at their next meeting.
Former Rio Rancho police chief Robert Boone retired in November.
