ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) A 78-year-old man shot last March by a Santa Fe police officer responding to a burglar alarm in a home has died. Robert “Bobby'' Dominguez was a caretaker in the neighborhood where the home is located and he also was checking on the home because of the alarm. Nephew Dennis Roybal told the Albuquerque Journal that Dominguez died Friday from complications from the shooting. Roybal said Dominguez was in pain since the shooting.
Officer Charles Laramie said Dominguez pulled a gun on him. A recording indicates that the wounded man said he didn't mean to do that and that Laramie surprised him in the home. The district attorney has cleared Laramie of wrongdoing.
Dominguez's family has filed a claim that is a possible precursor of a lawsuit.
