ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) A former Shiprock High School teacher is fighting to get her job back after being fired for refusing to allow a student to use the bathroom during a lockdown. KOB-TV reports that the student ended up urinating at her classroom desk after holding it for an hour. Ex-teacher April Baisan is appealing her dismissal, while the teacher's union says the Central Consolidated School District didn't have a bathroom plan during lockdowns and is making the teacher a scapegoat.
The district says the lockdown for a drug search and that students weren't in danger. It says Baisan should have used better judgment.
