CHAPARRAL, N.M. (AP) A 44-year-old New Mexico man is facing a number of charges after authorities say he attacked a 70-year-old woman who sought his help in burying a dead dog. The Alamogordo Daily News reports that Felix Moriel, of Chaparral, N.M., was arrested Saturday after deputies found the woman whose face and clothes were covered in blood.
According to Otero County Sheriff Benny House, the woman came to Moriel for assistance in burying the dog but he smashed her vehicle's windshield and started filling it with dog feces. House says Moriel then attacked the woman. Deputies later found more than 200 dogs on Moriel's property. Authorities say one dog bit a deputy.
Moriel faces fourth-degree felony false imprisonment among other charges. It was not clear if he had an attorney.
