ENMU PRESIDENT PUSHES NEW FOOTBALL STADIUM PLAN

PORTALES, N.M. (AP) Eastern New Mexico University President Steven Gamble says the school needs help from students to fund a new football stadium on campus. The Portales News-Tribune reports that Gamble told an audience at a Portales town hall meeting this week that a new proposal calls for the use of student fees to help pay for a new all-purpose stadium. Gamble said that total cost will be $8 million and half will be paid by students over 30 years. The plan is to charge an extra $40 per student per semester.

Students will be able to vote online on the proposal during Homecoming Week on Oct. 2-4. Gamble says if students vote down the proposal, no further funding opportunities will be explored.
