Curry County officials are throwing up their hands now that voters have overwhelmingly rejected the latest proposal to build a new jail or renovate the existing one. According to the Clovis News Journal, voters' rejection of the $9.9 million bond issue by margin of more than 2-to-1 on Tuesday was the third defeat of a jail bond issue since 2010. Commissioner Ben McDaniel expressed frustration. He says county officials have tried everything but that it's now abundantly clear that voters don't want to spend money on the jail.
