ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) Bernalillo County has begun transferring prisoners to reduce crowding in the county jail in Albuquerque. Television station KOB reports that officers began moving 49 protective custody inmates to the Sandoval County Detention Center on Friday.
It's the first of several transfers planned to decrease the jail population because of a civilights suit. The jail was placed on lockdown while the transfer took place.
