2 ARRESTED IN NM AFTER 3 PIPE BOMBS FOUND IN SUV

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (AP) Federal authorities say a man and woman are in custody after three pipe bombs, two firearms and 20 pounds of marijuana were found in their vehicle in New Mexico. U.S. Border Patrol officials say an SUV towing a trailer was stopped on Highway 70 west of Alamogordo at a checkpoint. Reportedly found inside the vehicle besides the pipe bombs and marijuana was a loaded .40-caliber handgun and an AK-47 rifle.

The Alamogordo Daily News says State Police partially closed down the highway until the pipe bombs could be safely detonated.

Authorities say 29-year-old Lloyd Jonathan Fry and 29-year-old Rona Ma Rey Milan Antipatia are being held on suspicion of possession of a destructive device and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Their hometowns weren't immediately available Thursday.
