EDGEWOOD, N.M. (AP) Authorities say a New Mexico man wanted for a string of burglaries is facing charges after he ran over Torrance County Sheriff Heath White. KRQE-TV reports that 34-year-old Jeremiah Callahan ran over the sheriff's leg after White spotted the wanted man on Friday just south of Edgewood.
According to authorities, Callahan ran over White's leg but the sheriff got up and later helped track down the suspect who was hiding under a set of trees. White suffered only minor injuries.
Callahan faces a number of charges, including aggravated battery on a peace officer. It was unclear if he had an attorney.
