SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) Santa Fe is joining a lawsuit that attempts to maintain federal funding that is to be slashed for control towers at smaller airports around the country. The Santa Fe New Mexican reports that the City Council has authorized spending $3,200 to join the suit already filed by the American Association of Airport Executives and the U.S. Contract Tower Association.
The Santa Fe Municipal Airport is among 149 facilities facing the loss of federally contracted air traffic controllers because of the federal government's automatic spending cuts.
The FAA has delayed the tower funding cuts until June 15.
