Teams from Rio Rancho, Bernalillo, Sandoval County, Corrales and Bernalillo County respond to a drowning in the Rio Grande near Corrales Tuesday morning. A 46-year-old woman had gone kayaking with her family, four other adults, and two children, and was in on of two kayaks when it slammed into an eddy caused by a tree. She was thrown into the water from the kayak that flipped.
Crews were there within 15 minutes of the 911 call recovered the woman’s body less than a mile and a half from where her kayak had flipped. No alcohol or drugs were involved and everyone was in a life jacket.
