Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – One of three people arrested for killing a mother in front of of her 11-year old daughter in 2023, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. 30-year old Austin Wilkins and two other people drove to the home of Brandy McManus in northwest Albuquerque near McMahon and Unser Blvd and banged on the door and when she didn’t answer, one of them shot through the door killing the mom while her daughter was inside the house. The other two shot at a neighbor who confronted them.
APD said they tracked phones used by the suspects which led them to a gun that matched the one used in the shooting. Investigators also revealed that evidence showed the suspects planned to steal a gun.
