Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — 67 citations handed out in just 2 hours for motorists who violated the states move-over law. This is the traffic law that requires drivers to move over for first responders, tow trucks, or anyone pulled over on the side of the road. The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office had a traffic enforcement operation recently and over 60 drivers were cited. The operation comes after the death of BCSO Sergeant Michael Schlattman on I-40 in the Carnuel area when his patrol unit was hit by a semi-truck during a traffic stop. So far no arrests have been made in the death of Sergeant Schattman, but Sheriff John Allen says he plans to have more operations like this one in the future to crack down on people who don’t move over.
