Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Governor Lujan Grisham has appointed John William Bernitz as the Eleventh Judicial District Attorney for Division Two, serving McKinley County. The appointment is effective immediately and will last until the next general election. Bernitz currently serves as Chief Deputy District Attorney in the Eleventh Judicial District, a role he has held since October. He has worked in multiple positions within the district attorney’s office since 2007 and has also served as a public defender and private attorney in Gallup. Bernitz earned his law degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Law.
