Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – Albuquerque city leaders will hold their first public meeting on a proposal to rename streets that reference Cesar Chavez. The discussion follows a New York Times investigation in which multiple women accused the late labor and civil rights activist of sexual abuse, including civil rights leader Dolores Huerta. The city has already removed Chavez’s name from a community center but has yet to decide what the new name will be.
The public meeting will take place at the National Hispanic Cultural Center on Fourth Street Southwest.
It begins at 6 p.m., and community members are invited to attend.
