Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Valencia County is out more than two million dollars after an employee fell victim to an email scam tied to the construction of a new hospital. County records show a scammer impersonated a construction company executive and convinced the county’s finance director to change payment information. After months of email exchanges and document approvals, more than two million dollars was wired in January. County officials say they are working with authorities to try to recover the funds and that hospital construction will continue.
