New Mexico teachers don’t stay at their jobs very long. The ABQ Journal reports that, according to the Learning Policy Institute, New Mexico had the second highest rate of teacher turnover in the country during a recent one year period.
That’s not a surprise to Ellen Bernstein, the president of the Albuquerque Teachers Federation. She tells the Journal that teachers often tell her they love to teach, but they don’t like the profession.
