Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –17-year-old Eduardo Huerta was arrested today (THURS) for the murder in January of 17 year old Ethan Cruz, during an attempt to sell a firearm. The two teens communicated through a social media app, and Cruz arrived at an Allsups parking lot shortly before 7 p.m. APD’s ShotSpotter system indicated 23 gunshots were fired at 6:54 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they located Cruz in the passenger’s seat with gunshot wounds to his head and leg. Officers also located a female teen in the driver’s seat with gunshot wounds to her legs. Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where Cruz later died. The 17-year-old girl survived. Huerta has been charged with an open count of murder, tampering with evidence, aggravated battery with great bodily harm, and shooting at or from a motor vehicle.
