Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — The Beach apartment complex, located on the corner of Central Ave on Tingley Drive, is getting a facelift. The affordable city-owned housing complex that is known for its colorful and intricate design is now receiving some much-needed repairs years after issues with the complex’s stairs were first discovered. Owned by the City of Albuquerque and managed by Monarch properties, the beach was constructed by the late notable architect Antoine Predock in 1986. In late 2024, the city notified residents that construction work would be coming, and due to safety issues with the stairs, residents on the second and third floors of the apartment complex would have to move out and would receive assistance from the city. The entire project is expected to wrap up in 2027.
