Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — On the agenda for tonight’s city council meeting is a vote on funding for the observation deck at the Sunport. The deck is currently closed for renovations. Councilor Louie Sanchez is sponsoring a bill the emphasizing the need for planning before spending. His concern is previous cost overruns and delays. Sanchez’s bill is proposing to allocate $1.5 million for planning and design including selecting a publicly accessible location. Sanchez wants to move $5.6 million into a reserve that cannot be used until 90% of the design and cost estimate are completed. Sanchez stated he wants the citizens and the council get the best bang for their buck.
