Santa Fe – The minimum wage in Santa Fe could be going up. City councilors will meet today at 5pm to discuss an agenda item which if approved would raise the city’s minimum wage from $15 an hour to $17.50 an hour. The minimum wage increase would not take effect till 2027 and any raises after that would be tied to housing costs in the City Different.
Some city leaders are not in-favor of the increase, saying they are worried how it will affect small businesses. Some business owners say they would have to raise prices and even cut employees if the increase is approved. Santa Fe residents on the other hand, have been concerned about the rising cost of living and especially high housing costs.
