Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — In Santa Fe today both chambers of the New Mexico congress approved to fund SNAP benefits through a special session amid the federal government shutdown. The New Mexico House passed the resolution to fund food assistance by a 52-9 vote. The state Senate has also passed the legislation following the House approval. The bill now heads to the Governor’s desk for approval by Lt Gov. Howie Morales, who is the acting governor as Michelle Lujan Grisham attends the U.N. Climate Change Conference in Brazil.
