Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Bernalillo County is converting a former Comfort Inn near the old Coronado Park site into transitional housing for homeless families. The county spent $6 million in state funds to acquire the 82-room property, which can house up to 240 people. The suites allow for larger families to stay during a 90-day transition period. Families in the county’s wellness program could begin moving in as early as next week. The goal: get 1,000 people off the streets within a year.
