Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — The Senate Rules Committee has voted 5–4 to advance the governor’s appointments to the New Mexico State Fair Commission. The commission oversees Expo New Mexico, which hosts the annual State Fair and year-round events. Senator Crystal Brantley of Elephant Butte voted against the confirmations, citing concerns about the commission’s treatment of rural communities and youth agricultural programs. The full Senate will take up the nominations during the next legislative session.
