Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — The Santa Fe City Council is expected to consider an ordinance that would punish keeping an animal in a median by a $200 fine. According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, Supporters say it’s about traffic concerns, not punishing the homeless. That same argument was made about an ordinance passed last year banning standing in narrow medians. Opponents however say the measure is part of an ongoing trend to criminalize homelessness and push them out of public view.
